Collier commissioners lay out spending plan for $420M sales tax hike up for November vote

Collier County’s road system would be the biggest winner if voters approve a sales tax hike in November.

Commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve a tentative plan that divides up the $420 million the county expects to raise from the tax. The tax increase, from 6 percent to 7 percent, would sunset after seven years or whenever the $420 million is raised, whichever happens first.
