Commentary: Report identifies needs a local sales tax could address
The recently completed Community Needs and Assets Assessment gave a voice to more than 4,000 Collier County residents, including many of whom are often underrepresented.
Through responses to in-person and online surveys and during focus groups, our community members articulated opinions on what they believed was important, including housing and economic opportunity; transportation and infrastructure, and health care and recreation.
During presentations last month by the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, which commissioned the report, and the Community Foundation of Collier County, something became abundantly clear: The concerns of our citizens, community leaders and elected officials are aligned around many of same critical issues.
